You ‘d like to contribute as a researcher? Join our IT for Innovation Services department

The IT for Innovative Services (ITIS) department, with its 100 researchers and engineers, focuses on the digital transformation of operations in organizations with traditional environments and digital ecosystems, with the aim of improving their performance and innovation capacity. The common thread throughout ITIS is to develop the most efficient use of big data to ensure the most appropriate decision-making processes.

The department relies on the Data Analytics Platform: a hybrid infrastructure covering the entire range of data analytics activities. The platform is based on three pillars: a high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, a cognitive analytics pillar and an interactive visualization wall (Viswall).

Responsibilities

How will you contribute?

 As a member of the Business Analytics group you will conduct research in advanced applied analytics, you will drive and execute the transfer of state-of-the-art AI/ML-enabled technologies towards business partners, and deliver concrete applications, across different activity sectors. As part of your mission, you will contribute to several ambitious projects, disseminate and explain complex notions to industry and/or business-oriented audiences, and engage with a number of strategic directions within the Data Science and Analytics unit.

You will contribute, among others, to the life and development of the team, and will take responsibility on:

  • Working closely with both external and internal stakeholders to successfully design, implement and validate advanced analytics and AI/ML demonstrators and proof of concept solutions; recommend viable options based on factors like performance, infrastructure in place, or scenarios of application;
  • Involve at all stages of an RDI’s project, including from reviewing requirements, recommending an innovative approach and options, taking the lead on writing the project proposal and subsequent work;
  • Align to and continuously track the evolution of the state-of-the-art w.r.t. technology and research, conduct literature surveys and write summary reports; may be called on building training materials;
  • Engage with the Business Analytics group and Group Leader to review strategic lines of development and positioning, contribute to defining and/or re-aligning on an annual basis the group’s roadmap;
  • Disseminate knowledge and communicate on findings / analysis results via reports and presentations; build, run comparisons and/or technical reviews, showcase and document software demonstrators;
  • Assetize software components, including on software documentation, examples, etc., and coordinate with LIST’s Technology Transfer Office on options for licensing, patents and intellectual property.

We offer a dynamic environment, with projects that span a broad range of application domains. Strong focus on analytics and building data, with applications in manufacturing and finance but not only. The position will connect to BA/DSA’s strategic positioning in the area of Trustworthy AI, while connecting to strategic lines in e.g. advanced ML/AI and computer vision, and is likely to link to future applications in, for example, Quantum Computing for Finance and AI (TensorFlow Quantum, IBM’s Qiskit, etc.).
