M-2128 – JUNIOR RESEARCHER IN THE FIELD OF MALDI MASS SPECTROMETRY

M-2128 – JUNIOR RESEARCHER IN THE FIELD OF MALDI MASS SPECTROMETRY

Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.

You ‘d like to contribute as a junior researcher? Join our Materials Research and Technology department

Through its research into advanced materials and processes, the “Materials Research and Technology” (MRT) department, with its 200 researchers and engineers, contributes to the emergence of enabling technologies that underpin the innovation processes of local and international industry. MRT’s activities hinge on four thematic pillars: nanomaterials and nanotechnology, scientific instrumentation and process technology, structural composites, and functional polymers.

The department also includes four high-tech platforms, focusing on composites, prototyping, characterization and testing. These platforms serve both LIST research staff, and other stakeholders in Luxembourg.

The researcher will be integrated into the Advanced Characterization Platform (ACP) and will be hosted in the Molecular Analysis Team. This transversal group provides analytical support to industrial partners and researchers inside and outside LIST. Additionally, ACP develops its own research roadmap, by developing fundamental and technological expertise in molecular analysis and imaging. The team namely focuses on its recognized expertise in Research and Development in AP-MALDI analysis and imaging using high resolution mass spectrometry.

Responsibilities

How will you contribute?

The junior researcher will participate in the research and development activities in the framework of a collaborative project with an industrial partner, leader in the field of AP-MALDI/HRMS analysis and imaging. She/he will more particularly carry out research and development in the field laser post-ionization and the evaluation of the performances of the newly developed designs, through various applications ranging from materials to biological tissue imaging.

The activities will include the investigation of new laser designs and realization of demonstrators in close collaboration with the industrial partner and Testing and Prototype Engineering Platform, as well as performing a detailed optimization and performance evaluation, using the latest Orbitrap technology.

In addition to his main activity related to the project, the researcher will participate to the activities of the team and will contribute to the analytical support to other projects where the team is active (LC/MS, GPC/MS, AP-MALDI analysis and imaging).

The candidate will be recruited as postdoc and will conduct research, development, and innovation under the responsibility of the Principal Investigator. She/he will hierarchically report to the ACP’s leader.
