You ‘d like to contribute as an intern? Join our Materials Research and Technology department
Through its research into advanced materials and processes, the “Materials Research and Technology” (MRT) department, with its 200 researchers and engineers, contributes to the emergence of enabling technologies that underpin the innovation processes of local and international industry. MRT’s activities hinge on four thematic pillars: nanomaterials and nanotechnology, scientific instrumentation and process technology, structural composites, and functional polymers.
The department also includes four high-tech platforms, focusing on composites, prototyping, characterization and testing. These platforms serve both LIST research staff, and other stakeholders in Luxembourg.
How will you contribute?
You will participate to the development of a new plasma source coupled to a prototype able to process 2D or complex materials. Your objective will be to characterize the physical properties of the plasma and then reduction degree of specific metal-oxide material with the detection of specific elemental quantities by in-situ mass spectrometry. As intern, you will work on many aspects of the prototype development for vacuum processes thus acquiring comprehensive understanding of vacuum technology test benches and gas management systems for material processing.
Ideally, we would like to have you on board for 6 months. This way you can discover our passion for research and more specifically for plasma(s).
On top of this, you will have the opportunity to work in the LIST clean-room facilities (ISO4-ISO5) and access to advanced characterization technics (Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, X-Ray Photoemission Spectroscopy, …).
Is Your profile described below? Are you our future colleague? Apply now!
You are a master student (Master 2) in applied physics or material sciences with knowledge of plasma technology and materials vacuum processing. You are fluent in English, maybe combined with French and Italian.
You’re the one we’re looking for!
Still need to be convinced? check our webpage.
