Would you like to join us as a technician? Be part of the Technical support and quality team of the Materials Research and Technology department

The Research Facility Management (RFM) unit that you will be part of is the point of contact between the Materials Research and Technology (MRT) department and the corporate services Infrastructure, HSE and Quality, for the supervision of the scientific facilities. The Technical support and quality team works in the departmental laboratories on different activities such as the management of consumables, preventive and curative equipment maintenance and the metrological monitoring of the equipment.

Responsibilities

How will you contribute?

Within the team, you will be involved in the maintenance of scientific equipment. You will be in charge of the different laboratory equipment. You will be in direct contact with the equipment managers in order to carry out equipment troubleshooting, orders, repairs and calibration. You will do preventive and curative maintenance and put forward the appropriate solutions to enable a rapid restart. You will be expected to carry out routine maintenance operations on collective equipment, clean water system, gas network, burner, fume hoods, secondary cooling circuit, ...


In the above-mentioned context, your tasks will include, among others:

  • Verifying the state of fluids in the equipment (gas, water, ...) 
  • Diagnosing laboratory equipment breakdowns
  • Resolving problems
  • Preventive and curative maintenance
  • Contacting and managing suppliers if external support is requested
  • Creating and monitoring department orders
  • Monitoring equipment maintenance contracts
  • Providing services for the laboratory infrastructure (cooling circuit, gas distribution system, ...)
  • Installing and connecting equipment
  • Managing gas from processes (request, connection, disposal)
  • Managing chemical waste (acids, bases, solvents)
  • Drafting and implementing maintenance procedures (Best Known Method)
  • Participating in laboratory meetings

You have experience in Industrial, Electrotechnical or Mechanical maintenance. You also have:

  • Basic knowledge of fluids and gases
  • Basic knowledge of vacuum techniques is an asset
  • Good time management and prioritization skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Ability to propose initiatives
  • Ability to draft technical reports, procedures
  • Experience in laboratory equipment or production tool maintenance is an asset
  • Respect for health and safety rules and protocol
  • Ability to read, speak and write technical English
