You ‘d like to contribute as a researcher? Join our IT for Innovation Services department

The IT for Innovative Services (ITIS) department, with its 100 researchers and engineers, focuses on the digital transformation of operations in organizations with traditional environments and digital ecosystems, with the aim of improving their performance and innovation capacity. The common thread throughout ITIS is to develop the most efficient use of big data to ensure the most appropriate decision-making processes.

The department relies on the Data Analytics Platform: a hybrid infrastructure covering the entire range of data analytics activities. The platform is based on three pillars: a high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, a cognitive analytics pillar and an interactive visualization wall (Viswall).

Responsibilities

How will you contribute?

LIST is looking for a highly motivated candidate with proven skills in mobile analytics (using IoT), software development, machine learning, data model management and interoperability in the context of Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), to work on a research project funded by EC (AAL Funding Program). The project will provide care organizations with an integrated service platform for the deployment and execution of “Active and Healthy Aging (AHA)” innovative services. This software solution will provide a smart interface and specific dashboards to supervise the services, implementing a person-centered goal with an iterative dynamic coaching and service composition through a multi-stakeholder service orchestration designed to improve inclusion, equity and universal access to the services from older adults. LIST contribution to the project will be focused on the development of a software component that can exploit wearable devices like socks and insoles sensors to get information concerning the mobility of the persons wearing them.

The specific missions of the candidate will include, but are not limited to, participation in the following activities together with the project partners:

  • Contribute to the selection of standards and the definition of security and functional requirements for the platform.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of the platform architecture and backend component.
  • Assist in the implementation of the communication with IoT devices.
  • Contribute to the selection and implementation of machine learning techniques to analyse the data collected during the experiments (smart insole/socks).
  • Provide support for the deployment and operation of the services.

The candidate will also be in charge of disseminating and promoting the research activities that will be carried out, whether through publications, prototype development and/or technical reports.
