The Digital Twin Innovation Centre has for objective to become a world class centre of expertise and excellence in interdisciplinary research and innovation around digital twin technology and governance and its applications in different selected domains. In particular, it will seek to address in a faster, innovative and broadly supported fashion some of the challenges (e.g. an environmentally sustainable transition and increased resilience to shocks) that the Luxembourgish stakeholders will be facing over the next decades with the help of the digital twin technology and governance. Specifically, the Digital Twin Innovation Centre aims to bring together all partners and create, in Luxembourg, the first prototype ever of a Nation-Wide Digital Twin (NWDT), the core components of which should be at TRL 6-7 (Technology demonstrated in relevant environment and System prototype demonstration in operational environment), and to accompany its creation with an ambitious interdisciplinary research agenda.


Responsibilities

How will you contribute?


You will manage the strategic development and operations of the Digital Twin Innovation Centre. You oversee the entire Digital Twin project portfolio and its specific Technology and Innovation Lines, you coordinate with the various internal and external contributors and manages the budget and the resources of the project portfolio.


You define the Digital Twin Innovation Centre's mid-to-long term strategic plan aimed at transferring innovations, knowledge & IP to specific target markets, in line with the LIST strategic goals and priorities:

  • Work in collaboration with other experts or teams to identify and analyse technological trends, research topics, and market needs.
  • Identify key performance indicators for the Digital Twin Innovation Centre with well-defined target goals.
  • Build and federate the internal RDI collaboration between LIST RDI departments and other partners of the Digital Twin project that will sustain the Digital Twin’s goals, identify the research and core technology/non-tech asset building blocks
  • Foresee the creation of consortia/partnerships to support the Digital Twin activities in collaboration with partnership officers.
  • Assess the alignment of new project proposals and expected results to target market needs and Digital Twin’s goals
  • Lead the national centre of excellence (NCER), associated with the digital twin innovation centre.

 

You deploy and implement the Digital Twin strategy, monitors its progress, and adjust plans based on market conditions and trends. Are attentive to future challenges or external factors that could impact Digital Twin activities and priorities.Conduct actions to anticipate market needs (e.g., analysis of market data and information from specialised networks, interviews with stakeholders or customers, etc.), and translate conclusions to define new Digital Twin initiatives. Share market information with RDI teams to facilitate response to market needs.Oversee the development of the Digital Twin’s project portfolio. This includes:

  • helping the teams to keep focusing on results, respond to market needs, and valorise the applications of RDI results in line with the Digital Twin Innovation Centre’s objectives.
  • the integration and maturation of technology components from LIST and partners together with other assets, such as data sets and models, into solutions and demonstrators in relevant and operational environments.



You ensure a healthy cycle of new/ongoing/to-be-ended projects.

You manage the Digital Twin’s project portfolio budget and oversee the allocation of the resources in consultation with the RDI department directors.

You stimulate innovation and promote the capitalisation of knowledge among the teams involved

You lead the identification and creation of partnerships or consortia to support the Digital Twin’s initiatives in coordination with LIST’s Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and RDI Departments.

You support the TTO in the identification of potential spin-offs, intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship initiatives related to the Digital Twin RDI activities and results

You Make innovative use of their networks to build collaborative relationships and create business opportunities.

You lead and conduct negotiations and engage internal/external stakeholders on Digital Twin activities in collaboration with partnership officers.

You ensure delivery of RDI results is done according to target market expectations.

You liaise with appropriate teams at the internal level to ensure that the transfer of knowledge, RDI results, or IP is done in respecting the interests of both LIST and partners.

Strongly partner with different RDI teams, promote interdisciplinary activities and support the enhancement of RDI talent pipeline by sharing knowledge and helping scientists and engineers to align their efforts to target market needs.

You support researchers (Ph.D. students, Postdocs, and Associates) on their research related to the topics of the Digital Twin Innovation Center both scientifically and through the provision of market insights, data sources, proof-of-concept partnerships, and dissemination of results. 

You act as a key actor in disseminating and promoting RDI results to the industry and the broad public.

You Interact regularly with partners and stakeholders in collaboration with partnership officers.

You lead the development of the Digital Twin partnership program, demonstrator projects, innovation and service offerings.

You are an influential person and a reference for the LIST community.

Finally, you report to the CEO of LIST.

  • You have overall responsibility and accountability for the Digital Twin Innovation Centre’s results, IP management, stakeholder management, funding, and the creation of an innovation ecosystem around the Digital Twin. You possess strong interdisciplinary knowledge of RDI activities on energy systems, mobility, data analytics & artificial intelligence, relevant experience in leading technology & market-oriented initiatives, and project portfolio and partnership management.
  • You hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, or a related field. You have several international publications and patents in one or more related technology topics.
  • You have relevant experience in projects involving technology transfer and entrepreneurship activities in the related technology topics.
  • You demonstrate outstanding communication and networking skills.
  • You show a deep knowledge of project and program management and have experience in preparing and coordinating publicly-funded projects.
  • You have a relevant local, regional, and international network of RDI groups, industrial partners, and start-up in the related technology topics
