You ‘d like to contribute as a Researcher? Join our Materials Research and Technology department

Through its research into advanced materials and processes, the “Materials Research and Technology” (MRT) department, with its 200 researchers and engineers, contributes to the emergence of enabling technologies that underpin the innovation processes of local and international industry. MRT’s activities hinge on four thematic pillars: nanomaterials and nanotechnology, scientific instrumentation and process technology, structural composites, and functional polymers.

The department also includes four high-tech platforms, focusing on composites, prototyping, characterization and testing. These platforms serve both LIST research staff, and other stakeholders in Luxembourg.

Responsibilities

How will you contribute?

The researcher will be integrated into the Scientific Instrumentation and Process Technology (SIPT) RDI unit of the MRT Department) and he will be hosted in the Plasma Process Engineering (PPE) group. This research group develops fundamental and technological expertise in the area of process engineering for advanced surfaces coatings. The group focuses on its recognized expertise in Research and Development of both thermal and plasma surface modification for the synthesis of functional polymer thin films, functional inorganic coatings, or functional/smart surfaces.

The junior researcher will participate in the research and development activities of a national funding project in partnership with an industrial partner, she/he will more particularly work on research activities in the field of process development and film synthesis for adhesion promotor by atmospheric plasma CVD. The activities will be conducted at the laboratory level but a support can be mandated at the end of project for a future achievement at an industrial pilot scale. Through this research activity, the candidate will participate to the manufacturing of new electric circuit boards which could be used in the expanding 5G communication,

The candidate will be recruited as Junior R&T Associate and she/he will conduct research, development and innovation under the responsibility of the Project Investigator. She/he will hierarchically report to the group leader.
