The Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department, made up of 200 life science, environmental science and information technology researchers and engineers, provides the interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise and technologies to lead solutions including the major environmental challenges facing society, such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, efficient use of renewable resources, and environmental pollution prevention and control.

The department relies on two cutting-edge platforms, the Biotechnologies and Environmental Analytics Platform and the Observatory for the Climate and the Environment, and the GreenTech Innovation Centre (GTIC): a one-stop-shop for the complete development of bio-based products and processes.


 


Responsibilities

How will you contribute?

 

You will support the definition, implementation, and monitoring of the department strategy and the management of department operations. Under delegation of responsibilities you may intervene to solve organizational or administrative issues, manage department reporting, and coordinate diverse projects upon request. You will champion LIST internal processes and organization, and will have a sound knowledge of the department activity. You will keep coordination with a wide range of internal stakeholders and will develop effective relationships with various internal/external stakeholders to the department.

 

Job description:

  • You will support the definition and implementation of the department’s strategy, you will contribute to translate the department strategy into a concrete multi-year plan, you will collect and analyse internal/external data, finally you will generate reports/analysis/conclusions to be used for strategic decision making and to keep the department strategy updated.
  • You will contribute to the definition and implementation of the department annual budged and the mid-long-term previsions, you will support the director in various activities concerning the department management and administration (e.g., organizational matters, workforce planning, implementation/improvement of processes, preparation of reports, external evaluations, audits, etc.).
  • You will support the follow-up and monitoring of strategy implementation, budget application and RDI activity. You will collect and analyse information, calculate indicators (i.e., LIST KPIs, MERS KPIs, RDI assets, Capex, Opex, human resources, etc.), and will keep the departmental dashboard updated, and you will communicate information to internal/external offices/bodies as required.
  • You will oversee ad-hoc specific missions -with or without permanent delegation or full leadership- depending on the specific needs of the department. These missions may include the management of transversal projects, coordination or supervision of teams, assume functions or roles on a temporary basis, etc.
  • You will lead initiatives to improve operating policies, systems, and procedures related to their area of responsibility in interaction with other LIST stakeholders.
  • You will Influence others on policies, practices, and procedures. You will build formal and informal work links with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You may act as department point of contact for external stakeholders and represents LIST externally.

  • You have a sound knowledge of the department activity, a strong background in the RDI field, and at least 10 years’ experience post-Master’s, MBA or PhD.
  • You also have advanced analytical and strategic thinking and the ability to see the overall picture, and the ability to analyse and present information in a strategic way and addressed to the senior/top management.
  • You possess sound interpersonal and communication skills with different organizational levels, including top management, at internal and external level.
  • You own a proven ability to adapt to new situations in complex, multicultural and multi-stakeholder environments
  • You adopt a solution-oriented approach to all tasks.
  • You know how to build work relations, negotiate, and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders
  • And finally, you have a good command in English.
