You ‘d like to contribute as research support contributor? Join our Environmental Research and Innovation department

The Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department, made up of 200 life science, environmental science and information technology researchers and engineers, provides the interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise and technologies to lead solutions including the major environmental challenges facing society, such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, efficient use of renewable resources, and environmental pollution prevention and control.

The department relies on two cutting-edge platforms, the Biotechnologies and Environmental Analytics Platform and the Observatory for the Climate and the Environment, and the GreenTech Innovation Centre (GTIC): a one-stop-shop for the complete development of bio-based products and processes.

You will join ERIN's Biotechnologies and Environmental Analytics Platform, a multidisciplinary platform offering cutting-edge equipment and expertise in analytical chemistry, omics technologies and bioprocessing to scientists, industry and public stakeholders. Eager to provide a tailor-made approach, BEAP engineers enable to analyse numerous types of samples ranging from water, soil, plants and microorganisms to animal tissues. The analytical platform gathers state-of-the-art equipment to analyse numerous varieties of molecules, both organic and inorganic, allowing the analysis of primary and secondary metabolites, determination of targeted xenobiotics or natural compounds in various environmental or biological matrices (water, food, plants, etc), from trace contaminants to major elements. The bioreactor facilities allow providing a research infrastructure for end-to-end bioprocess development (up to TRL5), including upscaling of production volumes up to 300L and downstream processing. It is currently used for yeast, bacteria and plant cell cultures, in order to produce biomass, proteins, secondary metabolites and other high added value compounds. The support provided by BEAP team members includes the scientific and technical expertise and knowledge of engineers, as well as the implementation, manipulation and maintenance of state-of-the-art equipment.

You will work within the platform and support the activities as part of the SBIC. To this end you will perform extractions and analyses of small molecules by different metabolomic approaches: e.g. gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis coupled or not with high-resolution mass spectrometer. Statistics on targeted and non-targeted analyses will also be part of the duty.

You will work in a team in a convivial and international environment, gathering experts in bioprocessing, natural products analysis and omics.
