Responsibilities

How will you contribute?


You will work on processes, projects, and initiatives aimed at valorising and transferring RDI results to the market with the main mission to maintain and grow the intellectual property (IP) portfolio of RDI departments. You will integrate in the RDI value chain and develop a critical eye to identify IP opportunities, evaluate the potential value of RDI assets, and foresee different options for the valorisation and transfer of such assets towards the market. Additionally, you will initiate and conducts the process to secure IP rights and their potential market value. Provide advice to RDI teams on IP protection, potential of commercialisation, licensing feasibility, etc.

You will be dedicated to the IT for Innovative Services (ITIS) department. With its 100 researchers and engineers, ITIS focuses on the digital transformation of operations in organizations with traditional environments and digital ecosystems, with the aim of improving their performance and innovation capacity. The common thread throughout ITIS is to develop the most efficient use of big data to ensure the most appropriate decision-making processes.


Your activities will include:

• Manages the IP portfolio (e.g., patents, trade secrets, copyrights, licences, etc.) of an RDI department which includes the maintenance of current IP assets and the implementation of actions to develop and grow the portfolio.

• Takes in charge the identification of intellectual property arising from RDI activity. Makes sure the processes established for that purpose are followed and applied.

• Evaluates the intellectual property value of RDI assets and their potential of commercialisation.

• Triggers and conducts the processes to protect RDI assets’ IP rights, from application to certification.

• Implements commercialisation actions, including marketing and promotion, to maximize the value of the IP portfolio.

• Collaborates with the partnership development team and RDI staff to identify commercialisation opportunities and maximise the RDI-ROI.

• Promotes entrepreneurship by advising in the development of potential spin-offs based on the IP portfolio.


Must-have requirements

You hold a Master’s degree in science (Computer science, engineering) with a specialization in IP, you have significant experience working with patent law and intellectual property, preferably in the ICT fields and you have the ability to assimilate and understand scientific and technological data and issues in these fields.

In addition of this:

•  You are Self-starter, volunteer and capable of identifying and assessing opportunities for commercialisation and networking with academics and industrials to realise those opportunities;

• You have strong organizational, administrative skills and communication skills. A multi-tasking ability combine with the facility of work independently and as a team member.

• Demonstrated experience and practical knowledge in IP protection, IP rights laws, and IP policy.

• Proficient spoken and written knowledge of English is mandatory.


Nice-to-have requirements

A good knowledge of French is considered an asset and German is a plus.
