M-2346 – POST-DOC IN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING WITH RECYCLABLE BIOCOMPOSITES
Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us
The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment, and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.

How will you contribute?
You will have to prepare polymer composites by melt compounding, evaluate their 3D printability, and characterize them with various tools, such as differential scanning calorimetry, thermo-gravimetrical analysis, rheometry, microscopy, and mechanical analysis. You will oversee the optimized design by finite element simulations of core structures to maximize vibration damping and fabricate sandwich panels for the “3DBiofibreGoesAuto” project demonstrators.
Using recyclable polymer composites reinforced with biofibers and additive manufacturing to manufacture sandwich panels are straightforward options for weight reduction in the transport sector and increasing sustainability. However, compatibility between biofibers and thermoplastics, as well as the design of lightweight components, greatly influence the performance of sandwich panels; therefore, this postdoctoral project aims to develop thermoplastic composites reinforced with flax and hemp fibres that can be processed by additive manufacturing for the fabrication of recyclable sandwich panels. The research will be performed in the framework of the International Project “3DBiofibreGoesAuto”, where you will have the chance to network and collaborate with researchers based in an Austrian research centre and companies in Austria and Türkiye.
