How will you contribute?
You will join the Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) Unit of ERIN. SUSTAIN develops knowledge, transferable (software) technologies, practical methods and outreach activities for the simulation and comprehensive sustainability assessment of societal systems.
You will contribute to the definition and implementation of methodologies for the energy performance assessment of built assets (part of H2020 and Horizon Europe funded research).
You will be mainly involved in tasks associated with the formulation of requirements, the development of the methodologies as well as the design and prototyping of the subsequent digital systems. Moreover, you will actively contribute to deploy the systems in real or simulated environments, monitoring the experiments and validating the approach.
The main tasks foreseen include:
- Contribution to the definition of innovative methodologies associated with the energy performance assessment of buildings, based on Building Information Models and Digital Twins, including using real-time data for the visualization of operational conditions and calibration of energy models.
- Participation in pilot testing of innovative technologies, through the monitoring of actual buildings, incl. interactions with owners and managers.

You have a PhD degree in Engineering, Architecture, or any other relevant domain.
You have the following set of skills/experience:
- A strong knowledge in Building Energy Modeling (BEM)(incl. energy models and simulation software) and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) is required, both being considered as a significant plus.
- Knowledge and experience in use, deployment and development of computer-based systems applied to the built environment, especially in relation with Digital Twins, is an asset.
- Proven track record and research skills (papers, patents, conference proceedings).
- Previous experience in international/European research and innovation projects is an asset.
- Good communication and writing skills, including scientific publications and project reports.
Good level both written and spoken English, knowledge of German and/or French and/or Luxembourgish is considered as an asset.
