How will you contribute?

You will be contributing to the research and development of the software platform for the BESSER project, aimed at building better smart software faster. By smart software we mean software that combines traditional and AI-based components.

In particular, you’ll be working on the development of new modelling languages and model transformation techniques to facilitate the specification of smart systems, including both the behaviour and characteristics of the smart components and how they interact with the other “traditional” ones. Not only by technical experts but also by non-technical ones. As such, work will also include the conceptualization of importers able to leverage existing organizational information to create initial models to be refined afterwards.

A combination of modelling techniques (metamodeling, DSLs, model-to-model, text-to-model, model-to-text,…) will be used.

You will be in charge of:

• Extending the BESSER platform with new languages and other model-driven artefacts that facilitate the specification and generation of smart systems.
• Build importers able to create initial versions of the models from sources of (un)structured data
• Participate in research papers and materials presenting and promoting the platform

You should have a master’s or PhD degree in a scientific, technological or engineering field

You should possess expertise in :

• General modelling languages (such as UML) or knowledge engineering expertise
• Domain-specific languages and software model manipulation
• Data analysis / data science
• Information retrieval, especially applying ML/AI techniques
• Conducting and publishing research in these topics
• And an excellent level of both written and spoken English and intermediate knowledge of French, German and/or Luxembourgish is a plus.
