How will you contribute?

The Structural Composites (SC) Unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is actively seeking a Senior Research & Technology Associate specializing in the field of natural fibers-reinforced polymer composites processing. This role places significant emphasis on expertise in natural fibers, particularly their pre/post-treatment and processing for natural fibers-reinforced polymer composites. The key objective is to enhance fiber/matrix interface performance in polymer composites, employing wet and dry techniques to target improved interface mechanical performance and multifunctionality. Your role also encompasses a deep understanding of bio-based composites processing and manufacturing.

The SC Unit operates under the umbrella of the Materials Research and Technology (MRT) Department and is committed to advancing high-performance polymer-based composites. This entails customizing and processing innovative interfaces and surface treatments for fibers, with the aim of achieving specific property enhancements and multifunctionality. The unit secures funding through industrial contracts and competitive projects, both nationally and at the European level. It currently comprises two research groups, one focused on advanced composite design and manufacturing and the other on fiber-based composites and interfaces.

Within the latter group, composed of 13 people, we are actively seeking an additional expert who possesses a robust background in working with natural fibers for composite applications, accompanied by hands-on technical skills and extensive experience. Additionally, deep experience in advanced composite manufacturing and processing, utilizing various manufacturing techniques, is a must.

While scientific knowledge is invaluable, we highly value individuals who demonstrate technical adaptability, excel in equipment modification, and can adeptly design laboratory and pilot-scale equipment. You need to be a strong teamworker and communicator, as it involves collaboration within an international setting.

This permanent position is tailored for a seasoned researcher who brings a wealth of knowledge in natural fibers, surface treatments, biocomposites processing, advanced composite manufacturing and processing using diverse manufacturing techniques.

Is Your profile described below? Are you our future colleague? Apply now!

You hold a PhD degree Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer-based Composites Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and wish to carry out impactful, high quality experimental research in collaboration with a diverse group of colleagues.
