How will you contribute?

Join the DMAC research team in this thrilling role that converges expertise in composite material design and manufacturing process modelling. As a key member of the OPTIPUL project, you play a pivotal role in advancing the development and optimization of the variable cross-section pultrusion process. You are responsible for developing models governing the material evolution (fibres/resin) through the process line:

  • 1-Fibres infiltration within the bath-resin;
  • 2-Stretch-free squeezing of the infiltrated fibres within the Die-entrance and;
  • 3-Profile solidification under a pulling force.

This includes establishing a robust relationship between material, process, and performance, correlated with die/composite interactions. Your responsibilities extend to exploring implementation possibilities for material modelling workflows. Engaged in the validation and testing of proposed solutions through pilot projects, you actively collaborate with project stakeholders and other industry partners to promote the adoption of the developed models and tools. This multifaceted position also entails active participation in research activities, including the opportunity to publish scientific papers and present findings at conferences and workshops. This role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact at the intersection of technology, materials manufacturing, and sustainability.

Your activities include:

  • Model Development for Material-Process-Performance Relationship.
  • Ensure the reliability and efficacy of developed models and tools in real-world applications, contributing to the refinement and optimization of the pultrusion process.
  • Actively collaborate with project stakeholders, industry partners, and material companies to promote the adoption of developed models and tools.

Is Your profile described below? Are you our future colleague? Apply now!

As to join us, you:

  • Hold a advance degree (PhD. Degree or equivalent) in relevant field as Computational Fluid Dynamics (resin/fibres interaction), Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Have an expertise in composite material design and manufacturing process modelling, with a focus on the pultrusion process.
  • Demonstrated a previous experience in developing models to establish material-process-performance relationships, specifically correlated with die/composite interactions.
  • Were previous involvement in research projects related to composite materials, pultrusion processes, or similar fields, demonstrating hands-on experience.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to actively collaborate with project stakeholders, industry partners, and research team members.
  • Enjoy effective communication skills to present findings, engage in discussions, and promote the adoption of developed models and tools. Including outstanding all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
