The Human Resources Director (HRD), as a member of the LIST Executive Committee, acts as advisor to the CEO on organisational and human resources matters and leads the definition and implementation of the LIST HR strategy. The HRD leads the HR department that oversees human resources processes and systems, manages employees relations, ensures compliance with regulations, and manages budget related to payroll and HR activities. Under their responsibility lays the leadership and follow-up of key processes for LIST related to talent management such as workforce planning, recruitment, learning & development, performance evaluation, career management and recognition. The HRD is also expected to sponsor strategic and transverse projects aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency and ensuring alignment with overarching business goals. The HRD acts as an official ambassador of LIST to external parties, interacts with national and international stakeholders and/or partners and negotiates agreements.

How will you contribute?


Strategic HR leadership

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership on HR matters, including workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development.
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify and address HR-related needs and challenges.
  • Develop and implement the LIST HR strategy that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and retention of talent.

    

Talent management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive talent management strategies aligned with the LIST’s objectives.
  • Lead the workforce planning process aimed at forecasting future talent needs and develop plans to address gaps. Oversee the talent acquisition efforts to ensure the LIST attracts strong candidates and provides rapid response to operation needs. In line with this, enhance the LIST branding as an employer of choice to attract top talent.
  • Guide and ensure the learning and development activity is efficient and responds to the talent needs and are in line with LIST priorities.
  • Lead the identification and development of high-potential employees to be ready to feed the succession plans of LIST.
  • Develop and execute strategies to retain top talent, including competitive compensation packages, career development opportunities and a positive work environment.
  • Implement initiatives to boost employee engagement and satisfaction, such as recognition programs, work-life balance initiatives and feedback mechanisms.

    

HR Operations

  • Oversee the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to ensure accurate and efficient management of employee data, payroll, benefits administration and other HR processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve HR processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve service delivery.
  • Put in place HR analytics to monitor talent metrics such as turnover rates, employee satisfaction and performance levels, to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven informed decisions.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and confidential employee records, including personal information, employment history, performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee payroll administration to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, including the management of taxes and benefits.
  • Develop and manage the HR department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenditures are monitored and controlled.

    

Labour relations

  • Facilitate effective communication between employees and management, addressing concerns and providing guidance on HR-related matters.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that supports employee engagement and satisfaction. 
  • Be a member of the Joint Committee negotiating the labour collective agreement.
  • Ensure legal compliance of HR rules and activities. Knowledge of Luxembourgish HR-related legislation and regulatory framework is considered a plus.
  • Handle employee relations issues, such as grievances, disputes, and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.

  

Leadership

  • As part of the Executive Committee, the HR Director will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the overall strategic direction of the organization. This includes active participation in high-level decision-making, strategic planning and organizational leadership.
  • Promote ethical behavior and decision-making throughout the organization, setting the tone for integrity and accountability.
  • Coach, develop, and empower managers and employees. Lead and support talent management processes, including hiring, training, performance evaluation and career development.
  • Excellent communicator and networker. Represent LIST in front of partners and stakeholders. 
  • The HRD will lead a team of around 20 people covering all aspects of HR such as Talent Acquisition, HR administration, Learning & Development, HR Projects, … and guiding the HR Business Partners.

Education

  • A master’s degree, preferably in human resources management (MHRM), business administration (MBA), or a related field or equivalent through experience. Additional HR certifications will be considered as a plus.

     

Experience and skills

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience, preferably in innovation-driven or research technology organisations (experience in an RTO is a plus), and at least 5 years of experience in a senior management position.
  • Relevant experience on the definition and implementation of HR strategies, preferably in research and innovation organisations.
  • Solid and demonstrated experience on the set up of strategies and programs related to talent management.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex HR issues.
  • Experience in managing organizational change and leading change initiatives effectively.
  • Familiarity with HR software systems (HRIS), data analytics tools and other relevant technology.
  • Effective understanding on how other departments in an organisation work to align HR strategies with the overall business goals, foster collaboration and support departmental needs effectively.
  • Proven ability to work with and manage multiple teams with a broad range of cultural, professional and motivational background and to foster a collaborative work environment.

 

Language skills

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills in English and French, written and orally.
