How will you contribute?

As part of the EPS team, you:

  • Contribute to the establishment and further development of the Knowledge Platform of the Interreg NWE project ECHT (https://echt.nweurope.eu/): This IT platform will provide actionable information for companies (on IT tools and initiatives, video tutorials, checklists, trainings, etc.) to foster traceability of hazardous chemicals in the supply chain and the introduction of a Digital Product Passport in the textile sector.
  • Answer to Luxembourgish companies concrete regulatory questions on REACH, CLP and POPs and pro-actively inform them about their regulatory obligations via events, social media, newsletter, publications and the REACH&CLP and POPs Websites (reach.lu, pop-chemicals.lu).


The EPS group is strongly involved in the implementation of the EU chemicals legislation, being national helpdesk for REACH, CLP and POPs, holding a seat in the Committee for Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC) and in the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and in OECD Working Parties, and contributing to policy implementation projects, e.g. INTERREG ECHT (Enable digital product passports with Chemicals Traceability for a circular economy). Moreover, the competences built up in the regulatory activities of the group are fed into national and EU RDI projects and contribute to offer of LIST’s SUSTAIN unit on sustainability assessment and Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approaches.

You further strengthen these activities by becoming a team member of the national helpdesk and supporting the work in the Interreg ECHT project. Thereby, you build, based on her/his technical and scientific expertise and the support of the team, regulatory competences on EU legislation, substitution of hazardous chemicals, and science-based communication.

Education

  • A Master degree in natural/environmental science or engineering (e.g. chemistry) or other fields related to the position

Experience and skills

  • Client orientation mindset and great sense of service are required. The candidate should be highly motivated, pro-active and open for new challenges.
  • Interdisciplinary thinking, well-developed communication skills (oral and written) and team spirit to successfully integrate into the multicultural, multilingual and multidisciplinary work environment at LIST and effectively communicate with LIST’s partners.
  • A (first) professional experience around policy implementation (chemicals, supply chain), or communication and awareness raising (including social media, related IT tools) is considered an asset.

Language skills

  • Good level both written and spoken in English and either German or French.
  • Speaking the three languages and/or Luxembourgish is considered an asset.
