How will you contribute?
You will join the Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) Unit, developing knowledge, methods, transferable software, for the simulation and comprehensive sustainability assessment of socio-economic systems. Its purpose is to foster sustainable eco-innovation, through products and technologies, as well as support sustainability-oriented policy implementation and behavioural change to promote decarbonisation transitions.
Within the SUSTAIN Unit, you will join the Sustainable Urban and Built Environment (SUBE) research group. The activities conducted within the SUBE group tackle the whole life-cycle of built assets (i.e. Architecture, Engineering, (de)Construction and Operations).
They mainly consist in the formulation, development and deployment of data-driven methods and tools supporting the transition of construction sector towards low-carbon and sustainable built environments (incl. districts and cities), with a strong focus on the digitalisation of processes and information flows (incl. handling Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Digital Twins).
Description
We are looking for a researcher to join the team, gather expectations and requirements from sectorial stakeholders, assess existing technologies and contribute to both the formulation of innovative computer-based processes and systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with our teams of researchers and Architecture, Engineering and Construction domain experts. She/he will be responsible for developing scientific research that bridge two research areas: Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the Circular economy.
He/she will conduct state of art and research activities (including scientific paper writing) and will contribute to specifications for circular BIM-based technologies.

Education Background: Master’s degree in Architecture or equivalent.
Technical Skills
MUST HAVE
• Expertise in BIM software environments and parametric design (Archicad, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper)
• Experience in research methodologies, incl. state of the art, technology testing, validation
• Good knowledge of research works about circular economy for the construction industry
OTHER SKILLS
• Proven organizational skills and interdisciplinary thinking, a problem-solving mind-set, and a strong team-working capability, but is also able to work in autonomy and creatively.
Language skills
Flawless knowledge of English (both spoken and written) is required.
Knowledge of German and/or French and/or Luxembourgish is considered as an asset.
