The European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) is a joint initiative of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). ESRIC’s mission is to be an internationally recognized centre of expertise for scientific, technical, business and economic aspects related to the use of space resources for human and robotic exploration, as well as for a future in-space economy.

ESRIC is conducting activities in three main areas: Research and testing facilities, Business support and incubation, and Community management. Our facilities include laboratories, technology demonstrators and large infrastructure to support to emerging space resources sector.
The primary objective of ESRIC is to support the development of technology for future space resources operations, including payloads and mission concepts, fundamental research and the application of knowledge and expertise. We focus initially on the utilization of resources on the Moon.

How will you contribute?
As a growing research and innovation centre, we are expanding our capabilities and require an experienced engineering project manager to join our dynamic team. Our portfolio of research and technology development activities includes the handling, beneficiation and extraction of oxygen and metals from lunar regolith. We have two large scale oxygen extraction from regolith demonstrators. Areas for growth include end-to-end demonstrators for space resource utilisation and the development of future payload opportunities. To enable our team to achieve this growth, we require an experienced engineering project manager who will lead complex projects with ambitious timelines.
In this role, you will be responsible for the identification, submission and lead of technology development projects for the space resources sector. You will use your experience of working with/in the space sector to build and lead consortia and to meet project deliverables. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to develop ESRIC’s research further.
Space resources is a complex and multidisciplinary domain; you will use your engineering background to solve complex technological problems and to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Your mission includes:
- Identification of opportunities to develop technology to support space resources, both ground-based and for future missions
- Leading projects, from proposal to completion in line with the above opportunities
- Building industry partnerships and leading consortia to undertake complex multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Working with the space resources sector to provide tangible mission-based opportunities
- Responsibility for all aspects of project delivery, including budget and reporting
- Enhancing the group's recognition by developing scientific and technological cooperation networks and partnerships with industries and institutions.
- Contributing actively to the development of Research & Technology activities in ESRIC.

To join us, you will have the following profile:
- MSc or PhD in an Engineering discipline, for example Aerospace, Chemical or Mechanical.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management in a relevant industry or research environment.
- Proven experience of leading projects supported by the European Space Agency.
- Proven experience of building and leading consortia.
- Track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects with multiple partners[HA1] .
- Experience in project management, including managing budgets, schedules, deliverables and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including industrial partners.
- Excellent autonomy in the management of technical, time management and organizational issues.
- Excellent English, both written and oral.
