How will you contribute?

You will be contributing to the research and development of software tools and techniques to provide assurances on the use of Generative AI in the development of educational activities. This research is part of an ongoing R&D collaboration with an industrial partner, Open Assessment Technologies (OAT) S.A., that provides advanced assessment solutions for education, with users in 194 countries, in more than 30 languages, leading to millions of tests worldwide.

Our key objective is to design and implement automated techniques to provide assurances on the quality of the LLM-generated assessment items. To do it so, we plan to combine effective prompt engineering strategies with scalable testing techniques such as metamorphic testing to identify and resolve quality issues in the generated items. The project plans to explore different dimensions that may affect the trustworthiness of Generative AI such as the communication language (e.g. English, Spanish, etc), the multi-modal nature of the learning sources (e.g. text, figures, audios, etc), among others.

You will be in charge of:

  • Designing tools and prompts to generate quality assessment items
  • Implementing effective testing techniques to provide assurances on the quality of the generated items
  • Empirically evaluating the usability, scalability and benefits of such techniques on all major LLMs
  • Collaborating in the integration of the developed techniques into the OAT’s platform
  • Participating to research papers and materials to promote our group’s research and role in the project
