How will you contribute?
Join our dynamic team with this exciting job opportunity focused on the development of the process modelling of an innovative approach for producing thick wound structure made of (recyclable) reactive thermoplastic resin targeting sustainable H2 tank storage applications.
This project proposes the development of an advanced multirotor drone platform based on fuel cells (FC) to significantly increase the flight time and payload capacity of drones, thereby expanding their potential applications in both military and civil sectors.
The objective of the project is to develop a resilient and versatile unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a fuel cell-based power system for extended flight time and higher payload capacity. The hydrogen-powered UAV prototype will incorporate sub-components (i.e. fuel-cell, hydrogen tank) developed at LIST. The project will mainly focus on the development of a lightweight and sustainable hydrogen storage (type 4) tank, progressing from conception and design to manufacturing and demonstration of the main functionalities.
This position provides a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of transformative advancements in structural composite manufacturing technology.
Your activities will include:
· Leading the winding manufacturing process development, including the raw material production in case of tape /towpreg solutions.
· Leading the Design of Experiment and advanced characterization data analysis enabling the demonstration of the produced tank to specification
· Understanding of the process induced changes, both at morphological and material levels and associated multi-scale/multi-field methods developments
· Upscale the process at prototype (ring) level demonstrating the concept of repair and post forming.
· Contribution to the design and performance prediction through the interaction with modelling experts and the correlation with experimental data
· Contribution to the process modelling by providing reliable experimental data sets.
