How will you contribute?

Within LIST’s SUSTAIN unit, the Environmental Policies (EPS) group provides science-based support to the definition and implementation of environmental policies at national and EU level, and regulatory support for RDI at the interface of science, technologies and policies. As part of this mission, the group is strongly involved in national and European soil protection and related research projects. As part of the EPS team, you will contribute to:

·        establish a soil living lab for Luxembourg, as part of a Horizon Europe project, to promote innovative solutions for sustainable urban soil restoration,

·        LIST’s role as Advisory Partner giving scientific and regulatory support to an Interreg Europe project that aims to improve soil policies and fostering nature-based remediation solution to tackle persistent organic pollutants (POP) contamination,

·        support Luxembourgish authorities in the definition and implementation of a national soil legislation, especially in the field of contaminated sites assessment and management.

The candidate will further strengthen the EPS activities on soil protection by supporting the above-mentioned projects as well as closely related work. Thereby, the candidate will build, based on her/his technical and scientific expertise and the support of the team, competences on soil policies, the management of contaminated sites, and science-based communication.

Education

·        A Master degree in natural/environmental science or engineering or other fields related to the position

Experience and skills

·        Client orientation mindset and great sense of service are required. The candidate should be highly motivated, pro-active and open for new challenges.

·        Interdisciplinary thinking, well-developed communication skills (oral and written) and team spirit to successfully integrate into the multicultural, multilingual and multidisciplinary work environment at LIST and effectively communicate with LIST’s partners.

·        A (first) professional experience around soil policy implementation or contaminated site management is considered an asset.

Language skills

·        Good level both written and spoken in English and, ideally, either German or French.

·        Speaking the three languages and/or Luxembourgish is considered an asset.
