Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.

You will join the Intelligent and Clean Energy Systems (ICES) research unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and will actively contribute to the FlexEdge project, funded by the National Research Fund, in collaboration with University of Oxford and Imperial College London.

FlexEdge focuses on designing and nationally integrating local flexibility markets through distributed AI-based coordination, market mechanism design, and cloud-to-edge computing. It aims to develop scalable machine learning methods for coordinating grid-edge flexibility while incentivizing grid-edge device owners for the power system value of their flexibility and data. These methods will be supported by a novel computing architecture addressing domain-specific challenges in deploying distributed AI for power system control.

The outcomes will be invaluable to electricity system operators, flexibility aggregators, and the broader energy research community. The project will include national case studies for Great Britain and Luxembourg to quantify the value of these innovations and provide policy recommendations for market reforms to unlock additional value.
