How will you contribute?
The Functional Polymeric and Particulate Materials (FPPM) Unit is looking for a passionate, highly motivated, and skilled Technician in Chemistry for a 24-month contract.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the synthesis and characterization of materials developed by our research team in the frame of funded project and the Sustainable Composite Materials & Manufacturing (SCMM). This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in materials science and support our efforts in scaling up synthesis activities.
Materials Synthesis and Scaling Up Synthesis Activities:
· Undertake the chemical synthesis and characterization of materials developed by our research team.
· Support our team in scaling up chemical synthesis activities from laboratory-scale to larger production scales.
· Collaborate with researchers and engineers to optimize synthesis processes for improved efficiency and scalability.
· Conduct experiments and analyses to assess the scalability and performance of synthesized materials.
· Ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental results through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to established protocols.
Characterization:
· Conduct molecular characterization using a range of analytical techniques, including NMR and FTIR.
· Perform physico-chemical analysis employing instruments such as DMA, DSC, TGA, and rheology.
Laboratory responsibilities:
Assist the operation and maintenance of the laboratory, ensuring a safe and productive working environment.
Contribute to laboratory resources, including the procurement of consumables, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laboratory space to uphold high standards of safety and efficiency.

Education
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry / Polymer Science or a related field
Experience and skills
· proven experience in chemical synthesis and characterization techniques
· Familiarity with scaling up synthesis processes from laboratory to pre-production scale is a plus, along with strong laboratory skills and proficiency in operating a wide range of laboratory equipment and instruments.
· Excellent organizational and time-management abilities are required to effectively prioritize tasks, while strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborative work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
· Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in the laboratory are paramount, along with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a dynamic research environment.
Language skills
· Good level both written and spoken English and French
