The AIRA Research Group, part of the Human-centered AI, Data and Software (HANDS) research unit, focuses on assessing and enabling trustworthy AI adoption through methods and tools for compliance, readiness, and performance evaluation.
How will you contribute?
We are seeking a highly motivated R&T Engineer to contribute to the implementation of its AI Technology Watch. This function plays a crucial role in monitoring, testing, and classifying AI technologies with a focus on sustainability and responsible adoption aligned with Luxembourg’s National AI Strategy. The engineer will support LIST’s mission to drive innovation and trustworthy AI uptake through evidence-based technology evaluation, benchmarking, and cataloging practices. The AI Technology Watch intends to set a systematic process used to monitor, analyze, and evaluate developments in artificial intelligence technologies relevant for the AI Factory. It supports stakeholders, project partners and AI Factory users, in staying ahead of the curve by identifying trends, emerging tools, potential risks, and opportunities related to AI. The work related to this position contributes directly to LIST's AI Strategy, enabling Luxembourg’s public and private sectors to access curated, high-impact AI solutions through a comprehensive technology watch catalog.
Main Responsibilities:
· Detect emerging AI technologies(e.g., foundation models, edge AI, neuromorphic computing).
· Spot industry adoption patterns and breakthrough research.
· Identify, test, and evaluate AI solutions aligned with the AI Factory Services, Luxembourg's AI Strategy and EU priorities.
· Understand and map the AI innovation ecosystem (startups, big tech, academia, consortia), tracking patents, publications, open-source projects, etc.
· Establish a dialog with technical contributors in the AI Factory consortium to understand their needs and priorities in terms of AI solutions to be scoped, evaluated and catalogued
· Maintain a structured and updated AI technology catalog supporting the AI Factory ecosystem.
· Participate in experiments and feasibility evaluations across different domains, especially in the Green Economy vertical.
· Collaborate with research teams to develop protocols, assess effectiveness, and document results.
· Contribute to dissemination and presentation of results at relevant conferences and workshops.

Education
Master’s degree in computer science, data engineering, or related technical field.
Experience and skills in
Testing and experimentation with AI Technologies.
Robust Python coding skills.
Good understanding of AI technological trends.
Strong communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
Exposure to data engineering tools (Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow).
Experience with MLOps, model deployment, or scalable data pipelines.
Knowledge of advanced ML model serving frameworks (TorchServe, TensorFlow Serving, Triton Inference Server).Familiarity with AI risk assessment, robustness testing, or adversarial evaluation.
Familiarity with AI safety, fairness, transparency, or regulatory principles (e.g., trustworthy AI, AI Act, model cards).
Language skills
Fluent in English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
