How will you contribute?
You have experience in composite manufacture and testing? You already worked with adhesively bonded joints in the automotive industry? You want to develop novel hybrid composite structures for lightweighting in the automotive industry/aerospace?
Then we have a new opening for you! The Structural Composites (SC) Unit at LIST is looking for a passionate research engineer for an 18-month contract.
You will be working at the forefront of novel hybrid lightweighting design, manufacture and testing of adhesively bonded hybrid composite-to-metal structures. In the framework of a project funded by the European Defence Agency (EDA), we are looking for a research engineer/scientist with a strong background in manufacturing and testing of composite structures and adhesively bonded joints.
You will be mainly in charge of:
· Exchanging with stakeholders within the project
· Conducting a state-of-the-art review of hybrid composite-to-metal structures for lightweighting
· Designing, manufacturing and testing of composite structures and adhesively bonded joints
· Supervising the manufacture and testing with partners of sub-scale and/or full-scale components
· Disseminating the outcomes of your work (papers, conferences, …)

Education
· Master's degree in composite materials with a strong emphasis on adhesively bonded joints or related degree with experience.
Experience and skills
· Proven skills in composite manufacturing and testing composite structures
· Experience with adhesively bonded joints
· Proficient in advanced destructive (e.g. DIC) and non-destructive (e.g. US, SHM, …) methods
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Good track record of dissemination (papers, conferences, …)
· Industry experience is a plus (automotive industry, aerospace)
· Good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, critically minded, attitude to teamwork, both with the internal team and with external stakeholders, excellent verbal and written communication abilities
· An automotive industrial experience is a big plus
Language skills
· Fluent in both written and spoken English, French is a plus
