In the Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) research unit, the LCSA group aims to support industry, policy, and society by developing science-based, sustainability methods and computational tools for life cycle sustainability assessment. Building on strong expertise in environmental LCA, the group now broadens its focus to include social and economic dimensions, as well as better industrial processes simulation, providing a holistic view of sustainability performance.
We are looking for a researcher with relevant experience in the field of Circular Economy, in particular in the application of circularity assessments. The successful candidate shall demonstrate strong expertise in circularity assessment methodologies and indicators, in particular in the development and application of advanced metrics (e.g. Material Circularity Indicator, Circularity Transition Indicators) for evaluating circular performance of products, processes and systems. She/he shall possess a proven track record in sustainable circular systems research, with documented experience in designing and implementing circularity assessment frameworks across various scales from product to sectoral level. The candidate shall be equally versed in theoretical and applied research on Circular Economy transitions, with demonstrated ability to develop novel circularity indicators and assessment tools that capture multiple dimensions of circularity including material flows, value retention, and system regeneration. She/he should show keen interest in contributing to the development of digital assessment platforms and decision-support tools for circularity, and in transferring research developments to industry and policy applications for accelerating the Circular Economy transition.
