Located in Luxembourg, we are a service company that hosts Europe's single leading trading platform(e-CAT) for cross-border transmission capacity. On behalf of TSOs, we auction the available long and short-term transmission capacity rights on all internal EU borders.
On the 1st of October 2018, JAO became the Single Allocation Platform (SAP) for all European Transmission System Operators (TSOs) that operate in accordance with EU legislation, since it is able to implement and fulfill all regulatory obligations and requirements. We provide accounting (clearing and settlement), contracting, reporting and project support services.
About the job
We are currently looking for a Compliance Trainee to join our team on a part-time basis (15-20 hours per week) for an initial 6-month contract.
In this role, you will assist the Compliance team with key tasks such as ensuring the accuracy of client data, conducting Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence, screening against sanctions and watch lists, and supporting ongoing monitoring efforts. You will also provide general support to the team, contributing to various compliance initiatives and administrative tasks as needed.
Key activities in the position:
1. Review and update counterparty information to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards.
2. Identify and correct missing, outdated, or inconsistent data in client records and systems.
3. Maintain detailed documentation of remediation activities and findings.
4. Support risk assessment processes by categorizing clients according to the company’s risk-based approach.
5. Help in reviewing existing KYC files to ensure alignment with regulatory and internal policy requirements.
6. Conduct name screening against sanctions, PEP (Politically Exposed Person), and adverse media databases.
7. Provide assistance across the Compliance Department.
8. Support ad-hoc compliance projects and initiatives as assigned.
We are looking for someone with the following skills set:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Political Science, or a related field.
Basic understanding of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Know Your Customer (KYC) principles.
Familiarity with risk assessment, customer due diligence (CDD), and sanctions screening is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and updating client data.
Good organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records and documentation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar tools; experience with compliance systems/databases is a plus.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).
Eager to learn and develop a career in Compliance and Risk Management.
Team player with a proactive and responsible attitude.
Ability to work under supervision while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
