The European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) is a joint initiative of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). ESRIC’s mission is to be an internationally recognized centre of expertise for scientific, technical, business and economic aspects related to the use of space resources for human and robotic exploration, as well as for a future in-space economy.

ESRIC is conducting activities in three main areas: Research and testing facilities, Business support and incubation, and Community management.
The primary objective of ESRIC is to research, develop and improve the understanding and performance of processes enabling the utilization of space resources with an initial focus on the Moon.

How will you contribute?
To accelerate the development of next-generation capabilities for lunar resource assessment, mission planning and in-situ resource utilisation, we are looking for a senior engineer who can drive the design and implementation of an integrated, scalable, and user-centric node-graph architecture for scientific and geospatial data workflows.
Key responsibilities:
Design and implement a modular framework enabling planetary mapping, resource assessment, mission planning, and mining analysis workflows.
Develop and maintain end-to-end processing pipelines for heterogeneous scientific and geospatial datasets.
Prototype, validate, and operationalize algorithms, interfaces, and workflow components for lunar resource applications.
Translate scientific and engineering needs into actionable software specifications and robust technical solutions.
Lead software development cycles from concept to stable deployment, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
Deliver high-performance visualisation tools supporting exploration analysis, uncertainty evaluation, and decision-making.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align tools and architectures for lunar resources.
Support the growth of ESRIC activities in data processing pipelines and exploration activities for space resources.

Demonstrated track record developing geospatial software systems end-to-end, from prototyping to operational deployment.
Proven ability to translate scientific and operational needs into clear software requirements and workflow architectures.
Experience in software projects supporting real-world operations, ideally in lunar or analog mission contexts.
Strong expertise in GIS, remote sensing, and advanced data visualisation for planetary environments.
Solid grounding in planetary science and space engineering, enabling direct integration with lunar exploration workflows.
Fluency in integrating heterogeneous planetary datasets using recognised standards (PDS, SPICE, geospatial metadata).
Strong stakeholder-facing skills and ability to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and mission planners.
High agility in rapid prototyping and iterative development under evolving constraints.
