As a Research & Technical Evaluation Engineer, you will find yourself at the intersection of innovation, technology and standards development.
You will evaluate innovative building products and systems that deviate from conventional solutions or for which standards are incomplete or still under development. You will critically analyse new concepts, assess performance and risks, and test them against existing and future reference frameworks.
The focus is on technical depth and substantive analysis, rather than routine checks.
Your responsibilities:
Technical evaluation of innovative building materials, systems and processes;
Analysis of design principles, operating mechanisms and application conditions;
Identification and assessment of risks, uncertainties and assumptions;
Development and evaluation methodologies within evolving normative frameworks;
Preparation of technically substantiated recommendations for approval and certification;
Collaboration with manufacturers, research institutions and external experts;
Conducting audits, assessments and site visits (including international, occasionally);
Participation in technical committees and working groups.
Your profile:
Master's degree in engineering (civil engineering, materials science, chemistry or equivalent; PhD is an asset);
Strong interest in innovation and technical substantiation;
Analytical, critical and inventive in complex and incompletely defined situations;
Accurate in reporting and clear in argumentation;
Fluent in Dutch, good knowledge of French and English;
Driving licence B (or able to obtain one in the short term);
Independent and impartial;
Independent and team-oriented, organised and meticulous.
