How will you contribute?
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Distributed and Intelligent Connectivity (DISCO) research group, working at the interface between 5G/6G networking and healthcare. The selected candidate will contribute to applied research and real-world validation of next-generation mobile connectivity for healthcare applications. The position is hands-on and interdisciplinary: the researcher will help design, integrate, and evaluate advanced networked systems that enable new forms of remote care and emergency support services under realistic conditions.
You will be mainly in charge of:
• Contributing to the design and integration of end-to-end healthcare connectivity solutions, combining devices/sensors, real-time data flows, edge/cloud processing and user-facing applications.
• Supporting the configuration and validation of 5G Standalone network capabilities for demanding healthcare services, including service prioritisation and performance monitoring.
• Defining and applying an evaluation methodology for real deployments and trials (both on healthcare and networking KPIs).
• Preparing and running lab validations and field trials with external stakeholders, including troubleshooting and technical readiness.
• Contributing to secure and responsible data handling and technical documentation needed for trials in healthcare contexts.
• Publishing results in high‑impact journals and conferences and contributing to collaborative research activities within the team.
• Supporting or leading the preparation and development of new project proposals.
• Supporting knowledge transfer and demonstration of developed solutions in real or simulated industrial scenarios.

Education
• PhD in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a closely related field.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of 5G systems, ideally 5G Standalone, and interest in 6G evolutions.
• Experience with real-time, performance-critical networked applications, ideally in healthcare or emergency-response contexts, where stable performance and low delay are essential.
• Interest in digital health and the ability to work with healthcare stakeholders; experience with wearables, sensing, or medical/assistive technologies is a plus
• Experience with prototyping and experimentation: testbeds, trials, measurement campaigns, or real deployments.
• Awareness of privacy, security, and data-protection constraints (you do not need to be a legal expert, but you should be comfortable designing systems that handle sensitive data responsibly).
Language skills
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or German is an advantage.
