As part of its mission, Luxinnovation supports companies and research organisations in accessing European collaborative funding through programmes such as Horizon Europe. The agency’s European Funding team has achieved excellent results, having helped Luxembourg-based stakeholders secure over €250 million in Horizon Europe funding to date—consistently outperforming the EU average success rate.
To strengthen this dynamic team, we are recruiting a European Funding Advisor – Cluster 1: Health and Cluster 6: Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment. Your main mission will be to promote European research, development and innovation (RDI) programmes, support applicants in preparing competitive proposals and ensure Luxembourg’s strategic positioning within European institutions.
As a European Funding Advisor, you will serve as the National Contact Point (NCP) for Horizon Europe Cluster 1: Health and Cluster 6: Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment. These areas attract applications from both public research institutions and private sector players, making this role critical for fostering collaboration and innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote Luxinnovation services and European Funding programmes, notably by organising workshops, trainings, and webinars, publishing newsletters, setting up information campaigns, and monitoring deadlines for calls for proposals.
Support the participation of Luxembourg research organisations and companies in Horizon Europe, notably in Cluster 1: Health and Cluster 6 : Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment, by advising and supporting project leaders in putting together Horizon Europe application files and by initiating synergies between companies and national public research organisations to develop collaborative public-private projects.
Monitor the evolution of European policy in the field of RDI and draft recommendations (opportunities/positioning) for Luxembourg aligned with national interests and priorities.
Represent and defend the interests of Luxembourg in specific events and working groups within the European Commission.
Maintain excellent relationships with international stakeholders, as well as other European national contact points, and promote the know-how and skills of Luxembourg’s companies and research organisations among them.
Participate in writing, editing, and submitting projects for Luxinnovation and contribute to the management of European projects in which Luxinnovation is involved.
This position is based in Belval, Luxembourg, with up to 30% business travel, primarily to Brussels.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ideally a master’s or PhD degree in natural sciences, political sciences, or social sciences and humanities
2-3 years experience in Horizon Europe funded research projects, obtained in a research organisation, a European institution, or a specialised consulting fi rm
A thorough understanding of the academic and public research sector is considered an asset, as well as the knowledge of the Luxembourg RDI ecosystem
Strong writing skills and ability to produce briefing notes
Oral and written proficiency in English, which is the working language for this position. Fluency in French, German and/or Luxembourgish is considered an asset.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Service-oriented with a strong team-spirit
Ability to analyse and integrate data in suggested course of actions
