How will you contribute?
The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is seeking a master 2 intership candidate to work on a project aiming at the development of thin films for Li-ion micro-batteries. The project is part of a large R&D framework between Goodyear company and LIST including one topic dealing with the development of “smart tires”. In this general context, the main objective of the project is to explore how the configuration of an area of microbatteries can be optimally designed to obtain the best coupling with energy harvester(s) empowering device.
As such, together with the team of various professionals in physical vapour deposition, electrochemistry, scanning electron microscopy, etc., the candidate will be involved in :
-(i), the fabrication of the thin films
-(ii), their chemical/structural characterizations
-(iii) the setting and evaluation of their electrochemical performances.
They will be involved in both bibliographic review and experimental work. We are seeking a self-motivated and diligent candidate with a keen interest in R&D, Li-ion battery and material sciences/chemistry. The candidate will work at LIST (Belvaux) and have regular contacts with the company. He will be co-supervised by permanent researchers and a post-doctoral researcher still to be recruited. The master 2 defense will be conducted under confidentiality conditions and a confidentiality agreement should be signed in between LIST and the school/university of the candidate

Education
Undergraduate student (Master 2)
Theoretical and pratical knowledge in material science, electrochemistry, Li-ion batteries, physical-chemistry and/or nanotechnology.
Experience of a work in cleanroom is a plus.
Language skills
Good level in English and French, both oral and written. Other relevant languages are an asset.
