How will you contribute?

As part of LIST’s SUSTAIN unit (Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity), the Environmental Policies (EPS) group provides science-based input to the definition and implementation of environmental policies at national and EU level, in particular policies around chemical safety, circular (bio-)economy (e.g. in construction and textile), soil pollution, climate, and water efficiency, and feeds, at the interface of science, technologies and policies, the regulatory perspective into RDI projects around these topics.

As member of the team, you will contribute to the circular transition to reduce the impacts caused by the extraction and consumption of raw materials and to adapt to a changing climate, to keep materials in their highest value use for as long as possible, to minimize and efficiently handle waste and to ensure high-quality re-use and recycled materials. You will focus on the policy perspective of the built environment and the construction sector, but activities can address also other waste streams.

In particular, you will:

·        Contribute to the Interreg project PREUSE on the re-use of building materials, e.g. on assessing environmental and health impacts of re-use, preparation of tools and guidance, literature and data review, exchanges with national authorities and municipalities, etc.

·        Contribute to the work of the group with national public authorities around circular construction, in particular waste reduction and selective deconstruction in Luxembourg, e.g. on stakeholder surveys, definition of best practise, policy benchmarking, etc.

·        Contribute to the work with national stakeholders to adapt to climate change, e.g. on organising stakeholder exchanges and supporting the knowledge transfer from other EU regions, among others in the build environment.
