How will you contribute?
Describe the main responsibilities of the position.
You will be mainly in charge of:
- Planning, implementing and analysing field experiments in viticulture in collaboration with the Luxembourgish ‘Institut viti-vinicole’ as well as private grape growers.
- The grapevine water status monitoring methodologies and related equipment.
- Investigating physiological and phytopathological traits of vines, including fungus-resistant cultivars and traditional reference cultivars.
- Field measurement campaigns and scientific assessments.
- Monitoring of grape phenology and disease/pest dynamics.
- Data management, statistical analyses and interpretation.
- Contributing to the development of sustainable management systems for reducing pesticide input in viticulture, including crop cultural measures and decision support systems.
- Climate change impact research in viticulture based on regional climate change projections.
- Reporting of research results.
- Contributing to the crafting of scientific and applied publications / reports.
- Presentation of research results during field visits and workshops for local producers, as well as at national and international workshops / conferences.
- Trustful interactions with national and international stakeholders and partners.
- Supporting the identification of funding opportunities in viticulture and contributing to research proposal writing.
- Working as part of a scientific team and participating in team and project meetings.
- Contributing to the organisation of meetings, monitoring the advancement of project related tasks, ensuring the achievement of deliverables/milestones, as well as contributing to the creation of intellectual property (patents, licences, etc.).

Education
You hold an engineer title, or master’s degree in viticulture or a closely related field, and you have technical expertise in viticulture, crop protection and a good understanding of climate change impact research.
You have experience in:
- Viticulture under European growing conditions including organic viticulture.
- Grape pathogens and pests as well as the pesticides used for controlling them.
- Crop and disease modelling.
- Grape physiology and grape water balance.
- Scientific field trials.
- Data management and statistical data analyses.
- Scientific writing.
- Reporting and presentation skills following scientific standards.
- Working collegially in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
- Data analyses using R or SPSS.
Programming skills are considered as a plus. Fundraising experience would represent a further asset.
You are an open-minded person and able to interact with colleagues, partners, local stakeholders as well as applied grape growers.
You are highly motivated and driven by curiosity.
A driving licence (B) is mandatory.
Language skills
• Fluency in German and English, both oral and written. French would be considered as an asset.
