How will you contribute?
Describe the main responsibilities of the position.
You will be mainly in charge of:
Performing process scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot and demonstrator scale for polymeric and functional materials with autonomy under general supervision
Organizing and conducting scale-up experiments to meet project objectives and deadlines
Evaluating and applying engineering methods related to mixing, heat and mass transfer, reaction kinetics, and material processing to support scale-up activities
Contributing to the design, setup, optimization, and operation of reactors and processing equipment.
Collaborating with chemists and materials scientists to adapt formulations and synthetic routes for scalability and industrial relevance.
Developing and applying safe and reproducible operating procedures in compliance with LIST-HSE rules
Supporting RDI projects, collaborative activities, and service provision related to process development and material production
Contributing to proposal preparation and identifying opportunities for innovation and industrial application
Interacting with industrial and academic partners and contributing to the dissemination and valorization of project results
Assisting junior engineers, technicians, students, and trainees in laboratory and process development activities.

Education
PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Applied Chemistry or a closely related field, with a strong background in chemical synthesis and materials science, with 1-2 years of relevant experience after PhD completion.
Experience and skills
Demonstrated experience in chemical process scale-up, including reactor setup, pilot or semi-pilot operations, and process implementation for polymeric or functional materials.
Strong knowledge of organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, material synthesis, and process–structure–property relationships.
Ability to evaluate and optimize key process parameters, including mixing, reaction kinetics, and energy or mass balance considerations.
Hands-on experience with batch and continuous processing systems, including safe handling and scale-up of reactive chemistries.
Experience with polymer processing techniques such as extrusion, compounding, film casting, or spinning is considered a strong asset.
Ability to adapt formulations and synthetic routes for scalability, reproducibility, and industrial relevance.
Experience working across multidisciplinary environments combining chemistry, process engineering, and materials science.
Good project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Ability to contribute to collaborative projects, proposal preparation, and interactions with industrial or academic partners.
Strong communication and presentation skills for scientific and technical environments.
Ability to supervise or mentor students, trainees, technicians, or junior researchers.
Strong awareness of laboratory and process safety, including safe operation of chemical reactors and processing equipment.
Language skills
Fluency in English, both oral and written. Other relevant languages are an asset.

This position offers a gross monthly salary between €6094 and €6679, paid over 13 months (€79.222–€86.827 annually) based on full‑time employment. The final salary offer within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s overall profile, qualifications and professional experience .
For part‑time employment, the salary is adjusted pro rata.
