Are you looking for a new challenge in a small, fast-moving team, where your work has a real and direct impact on the lives of Luxembourg taxpayers?

Since 2018, taxx.lu has been the leader in online tax filing in Luxembourg. Our platform allows everyone to file their Luxembourg tax return as simply, quickly and reliably as possible.

To continue growing our team, we are now looking for a full-stack developer to build the application behind it. You will help us build reliable, secure and well-structured features that support the filing experience, our support team and our AI-enabled capabilities.

This is a hands-on role, combining feature development, code review and close collaboration with Product and our tax specialists.

Your responsibilities

Build and maintain features

·        Design, develop and maintain features across the application, from data model to interface.

·        Translate Luxembourg tax rules and annual regulatory changes into working product, together with Product and our tax specialists.

·        Turn requirements into clear specifications with explicit scope and acceptance criteria.

·        Contribute to the evolution of the platform's architecture.

Write and review code to the same standard

·        Review pull requests, whether written by a colleague or generated by an agent.

·        Investigate and fix defects reported in production: reproduce, isolate and correct the cause.

·        Improve the reliability, performance and security of existing code.

·        Refactor where complexity accumulates and keep the application maintainable as it grows.

Develop with AI

AI is becoming an increasingly important part of our technology landscape.

You will contribute to making agent-assisted development reliable and to defining the conventions and guardrails that agents work from, while ensuring appropriate quality, security and human oversight. We expect the same engineering principles whether code is written by a person or generated by an agent: version control, testing, code reviews, monitoring, automated deployments, documentation and maintainable solutions.

What we are looking for

We are more interested in engineering fundamentals than in experience with one particular framework.

Essential skills

·        Demonstrable experience building and shipping web applications, whether professionally, through open-source work or through substantial personal projects.

·        Solid understanding of web application architecture and of common patterns such as MVC.

·        Experience with relational data modelling, migrations and SQL.

·        Good command of web fundamentals: HTTP and REST, authentication and authorisation, sessions, background jobs, caching.

·        Experience with automated testing, and an understanding of what to test at which level.

·        Ability to read and debug code written by others, including in production.

·        Ability to plan a feature: decompose it, define acceptance criteria and anticipate edge cases.

·        Practical experience working with AI coding agents.

·        Comfortable with Git and modern engineering practices.

·        Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

·        Professional English.

Nice to have

·        Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

·        PostgreSQL.

·        Tailwind CSS.

·        Heroku and AWS.

·        GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.

·        Devise or another authentication framework.

·        Experience introducing coding agents into a team's workflow.

·        Knowledge of Luxembourg personal taxation.

·        French, German or Luxembourgish.

Experience with Rails is an advantage rather than a requirement. We allow for a proper learning period on our stack and on Luxembourg tax matters, and we expect you to be contributing to production code within your first weeks.
