Role overview

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Luxauto engineering team and help modernize one of Luxembourg's leading automotive marketplaces.

You will build and maintain backend services for vehicle listings, dealer integrations, APIs and data workflows. PHP / Laravel is the main focus, supported by Python for scripting, automation, data processing and AI-related development, with Node.js used across selected services.

AI is a core part of how we want to build Luxauto: both as an engineering tool and as a platform capability. You will help us use it pragmatically, safely and with clear human ownership.

What you'll be driving

• PHP / Laravel backend: Build and maintain reliable backend services and REST APIs.

• Python automation & data processing: Develop scripts, data pipelines, integrations and operational tooling.

• Node.js services: Contribute to or integrate with Node.js services where appropriate.

• Automotive data & integrations: Work with listings, dealer feeds, external partners and data-quality workflows.

• Performance, reliability & cloud: Optimize backend and SQL flows and support secure AWS/Docker environments.

• Engineering practices: Write clean, tested and maintainable code, review changes and collaborate across teams.

AI in engineering

AI is part of how we build at Luxauto. You will use AI coding tools and agents in daily development, help define practical standards for their safe use, and contribute to AI-powered features such as data enrichment, search and automation. AI-assisted code is expected to meet the same standards for testing, review, security and maintainability as any other production code.

What you bring

• 3-5 years of backend development experience

• Strong professional experience with PHP and Laravel

• Good knowledge of Python for scripting, automation and data processing

• Experience with Node.js is a strong advantage

• Strong experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs

• Good knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL and SQL/query optimization

• Experience with Docker; familiarity with AWS services such as ECS, S3, Lambda and CloudWatch

• Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing and modern backend engineering practices

• Exposure to microservices and distributed systems concepts

• Exposure to observability and search technologies such as Elasticsearch, ELK or OpenSearch is a plus

• Hands-on use of AI coding assistants or agents as part of the daily development workflow

• Interest or experience with LLM APIs, RAG, embeddings, semantic search or AI-powered automation is a strong advantage

• Strong problem-solving skills, product mindset and fluent English
