How will you contribute?

You will join the recently awarded PEARL project FUNG-FACTORY in a team of approximately 10 people – led by Ronald de Vries, dedicated to developing fungal cell factories for the production of enzymes and metabolites.

Your PhD project will focus on AI-driven synthetic biology to develop novel enzymes with improved properties. The first part of the project will focus on the development and use of the AI-pipeline, while the second part will be experimental and focus on producing and testing the novel enzymes you designed.

Education

•               Master's degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biotechnology or bioinformatics

Experience and skills

•               Experience with methodologies in molecular biology and biochemistry

•               Experience with bioinformatics is an asset

•               Experience with fungi is an asset

•               Ability and willingness to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

•               Strong interpersonal and communication skills

•               High motivation, scientific curiosity and creativity


Language skills

•               Strong knowledge of English (both spoken and written) is required.

PhD additional information:

 

This position offers a gross monthly salary of € 3’521,71 (index 992.24), paid over 13 months based on full‑time employment.
